AboutMrs. Priscilla Lyons Expertise I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective. I know the dangers of government entitlement mentality, the dangers of homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, gun restrictions, pacifism and environmental extremism.
Experience My husband and I are active in local Republican politics and I've served on a Right to Life PAC.
Question Hello,
What is the real danger of same sex marriage? please be specific.
Answer Dear Brian,
Thanks for writing. There are a lot of dangers with same sex marriage.
Obviously the human body wasn't made for anal sex. The resulting anal tissue tears allow germs directly into the blood stream, which is why not only AIDS, but many other diseases also flourish.
Besides the public health menace that results from public acceptance of this unhealthy lifestyle, there is the more dangerous spiritual health menace. From what God has given us to know about Him (the Bible), having homosexual sex is a rebellious act against His created natural order. The natural order is that children born of a man and a woman have the necessary male and female role models, a father and a mother.
But even more important than the children, is that the marriage relationship is God's picture of His relationship with His people, the church. Ephesians 5:31-32 shows us that the commitment and potentially fruitful physical union of a man and wife, is like the commitment and potentially fruitful spiritual union God has with those who have chosen to belong to Him.
Because our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness comes from our Creator, we flaunt our rebellion of His created order at the risk of losing our rights. If our laws are not determined by natural law, if God has no say in what is right or wrong according to our laws, then might makes right and tyranny replaces freedom.
Frankly, my opinion of the danger or dangers of same sex marriage is no more authoritative than any other person's opinion, even the opinion of someone that applauds same sex marriage. Who's to say who is right? We need an Authority higher than any one of us. Our country was founded on the principle that it's always best to try to follow the "Manufacturer's guidelines" in order to get the most out of this product of His.
Finally, sin is what separates us from God, leading to an eternity of pain that sin causes. If we aren't willing to give our sins (homosexuality included among all the other sins in our life) to God for forgiveness and accept the salvation God has provided through Jesus, we face a terrible eternity. How can any Christian have God's love without warning others to repent of their sins and accept God's payment for them?
You can probably think of other problems of legitimizing same sex marriage. Health care costs enough as it is, but insurance rates will really blossom with the proliferation of homosexual sex. The anything-goes sex mania dissipates the energy needed to build and save for the future. The lack of sexual restraint spills over into other areas, bringing a lack of restraint in violence. Instant gratification addicts won't decrease when society stops saying "no" to same sex marriage. Sexual predators are already a problem but legitimizing sodomy won't improve the situation.
While we have a responsibility to speak up because we care about people, fortunately we don't bear the weight of the results of this issue on our shoulders. God ultimately is in control and Christians have a wonderful eternity to look forward to, no matter what happens in this short lifespan.
I pray that this response will encourage and motivate you.
Sincerely,
Priscilla Lyons
