Question
Mrs. Lyons, how much and what kind of control should government have over the economy?
Thank You.

Answer
Dear Chasity,
Thanks for writing.  Although I don't have specific information about government involvement in the economy, when our country was founded, most of the leaders had a world view based on the Bible, and they felt it was important to limit federal control severely, so I would tend to think that the less control government has over the economy, the better it would be.
Situations such as ENRON point out that character does matter to the economy.  Honesty, integrity, unselfishness, etc. are character traits promoted in the Bible.  When children are not brought up knowing and valuing the Bible, they become adults who are not trustworthy, such as the ENRON CEO's.
While religions may promote good character traits, only the Bible gives the Truth about HOW flawed humans can develop good character traits.  If we admit our need for a Savior from our sins and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord, we have God's guidance and power to develop good character traits, through our reliance on Him and our continual relationship with Him forever.
I apologize for not being more specific about government control over the economy.  If you would care to mention any particular instances of concern, it might help me be able to comment more specifically.
   Have a wonderful day!

Expertise

I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective. I know the dangers of government entitlement mentality, the dangers of homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, gun restrictions, pacifism and environmental extremism.

Experience

My husband and I are active in local Republican politics and I've served on a Right to Life PAC.
