AboutChronoDensetsu Expertise I´ve played a lot of games through the years from a lot of different genres and on a majority of the available gaming platforms, my main expertise being RPG´s on Gameboy (color/DS/Advance), SNES, PSX, PS2, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii and PC. I´m also quite up to date about new developments in the gaming world, hardware fixes and can also give good advice about gaming in general, for instance, whether a game is worth buying or not, when a game will be released, if there are any good upcoming strategygames for PC, etc. Feel free to ask me questions outside of my expertise, I'll try to help the best I can.
Experience I've been an avid gamer since the age of 4, I'm 20 now, so I played countless games in those 16 years. RPG's and strategygames had the most of my interest, though there are few games that I really don't like. Series like Final Fantasy, Zelda, Secret of Mana and the Soulblazer saga are my favorite, I've finished every one of those games countless of times. Also strategygames like Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, Warcraft and Total Annihilation are games I played a lot and can tell you a lot about.
I work at a webstore for computerhardware. Therefore, I can also tell you a lot of things about the latest developements in this area, and the things I don't know I know where to find, so don't hesitate to ask me any questions you might have on this subject.
Question Hi, i have a question about a ps2 game, i downloaded a game from a website and i got the game in RAR files. The game is a classic called "Syphon filter 2" and ther are 10 rar files labeled in 10 parts. I need to burn it into an ISO image how do i do that. What i did was i had to go to "my docs" and make ten new folders each one named differently,(syphon filter 1,2,and so on)Because WinRAR kept telling me if i wanted to replace the folders since each folder was named the same, disk 1 and disk 2. in each folder threr were files that contained the file extension (SUB,CCD,IMG) then i went and extracted the files to the corresponding folder "part 1.rar to syphon filter 1"
Now i just have to put them together, how?
Answer Hello Jimmie,
Most rar files that are cut into different parts are actually one single file. You can see if this is the case by the extensions of the rar-files, these will be .rar, .r01, .r02, and so on. Just open the .rar file and extract normally, the program will automaticly extract the other parts and put them together for you.
If the file however is really cut into different parts (with filenames as SFDSK11.rar, SFDSK12.rar for example) it's been archived very badly and it'll make it a lot more work to get a working .iso file. Archives using this method usually don't archive the iso, but archive the files on the iso seperately, which means you'll have to extract all archives, put all the received files into one single folder and burn this folder on a dvd. Not a very reliable method if you ask me, you'll end up wasting your dvd's pretty often.
Keep in mind that a stock ps2 cannot play copied disks, the bios that a ps2 requires to boot is stored on the original dvd and is not copied during the burning process. You will need a converted ps2 for this, either with a chip or with a swapdisk, though this is both considered illegal.
And of course I don't have to remind you that it's illegal to own a copy of a game without having bought the real thing.
My advice: Go with method one. If the disk is archived in a different way, find another file that's better.
I hope I have provided you with enough information to get you going, if not, just let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.
