About Andrew Crome
Expertise
I have played games since the early nineties. I can answer questions on the SNES, the Sega Saturn, N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, 360, and DS. I can tell you what games are worth getting, and which aren`t, as well as the history of these systems. While I`m no expert on other systems I`m more than happy to find out things you would like to know about them.

Console Games (Nintendo, Sony etc.) and Arcade Games - xbox 360

Expert: Andrew Crome - 1/28/2008

Question
I've already sent one xbox 360 back as a result of a bad disc drive. Got the next one and everything was running smoothly for 2 months. Then the power brick thing was always red. I moved it to a different outlet and tv and worked for about another 2months. now the xbox won't turn on with freezing, just all of the sudden. first i could play guitar hero for about 3 minutes , but now it won't turn on at all and shows four red rings on the front. I haven't heard of that happening and wondered if you did...?

Answer
Hi Johnny,

The 360 has a lot of reliability issues (as, unfortunately, you're aware of!). It sounds to me like you either have a faulty power brick or some sort of fault within the console. However, four red rings on the front is the error message for an A/V cable fault - I would try replacing that first of all to see if that could be the problem.

Beyond that, it's only the fact that you have the four red lights that suggests an AV cable problem. It sounds like there may be a number of things wrong with your console, and would suggest you call Microsoft to try and get it resolved.  I'm sorry I can't offer you any more practical help, but I hope you manage to resolve this!

All the best

Andy
