TOPICS I can answer questions about: Game Strategy, Recommendations (based on age or genre preference), History of a game, Recalling a game you played, Game music, Company or Creator info, and System troubleshooting GENRES: My specialties are Adventure, RPG, Survival Horror, Action, and a small amount of Strategy and Puzzle. I avoid sports games like the plague, and have little interest in any racing games save for a few, F-Zero, Mario Kart and Wipeout being the main ones. Nor do I know many fighting games, mainly Bushido Blade and a few others. I am not much of a fan of First Person Shooters either. I am especially well versed in RPGs, particularly Final Fantasy and most of SquareEnix's other titles. GAMES: Not limited to the following. These games are series, and I know them all. There are MANY other individual ones. Feel free to ask and I will let you know if I can help you. Actraiser, Alundra, Breath of Fire, Bushido Blade, Castlevania, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Donkey Kong, Dragon Warrior/Quest, Drakkhen/Dragon View, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, King's Field, Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver, Mana, Mario, Mega Man, Metal Gear Solid, Ninja Gaiden, Metroid, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil, Rygar, Silent Hill, Spyro, Star Fox, Suikoden, Tomb Raider, TMNT, Wild Arms, Xenogears/Xenosaga, Zelda, and Zone of the Enders SYSTEMS: I have recently added the Wii and PSP to my collection. NES, Super NES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy Color, GBA, DS, PS1, PS2 and PSP plus computer, but I'm not really a big computer gamer. Systems I plan on getting in the future are XBOX 360 and eventually PS3 (When the price goes down...a lot) I am also a big fan of emulators on the PC. I have many of the old 8-bit and 16-bit systems and ROMS for my computer and know a lot about them. These include NES, Super NES, Genesis, Turbografx, MSX, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and GBA.

Experience
I have been a video gamer for nearly 20 years. I started with the original NES way back in 1988 and have owned or played nearly every popular console since then. I have completed hundreds of games and played thousands. I have a large file cabinet filled with hundreds of hand-made maps, lists, and various stategies for many of the games I have conquered in the past two decades. I subscribe to 5 different game magazines to keep up to date on the newest stuff out there. I would officially call myself an expert on the subject of videogames. And if I don't know the answer, I can find out about it and direct you to someplace that does.

Publications
Nintendo Power magazine, and I am thinking of writing for Gamegrene and GameFAQs in the future.

Education/Credentials
Experience with games baby, and lots of it. Nothing formal if that's what you're wondering. Just good old playing and reading.

Console Games (Nintendo, Sony etc.) and Arcade Games - Final Fantasy Crisis Core / Legend of Dragoon

Expert: gameusurper - 4/23/2008

Question
I was wondering if Final Fantasy: Crisis Core is worth the fourty some price tag on it or if I should wait for a price drop.  I am a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, FF7 in particular, but unfortunately I have yet to finish any of them due to a very short attention span.  I tend to get bored with the need for farming and the non stop battles when I just want to move on in the plot.  I have trouble finishing any game that moves slowly toward the next stage.  Often, I would play the game for a period, then get bored with it and play another, and by the time I returned to the game I had already forgotten what I had to do next.

To sum this up, does the game move faster than its predecessors or if not, does it compensate somehow?

Secondly, I am having trouble with Legend of Dragoon.  I seem to keep missing one Stardust before the getting on the Queen Fury after the theft of the Moon Dagger.  I have restarted the game with a list of the locations I found online, but the locations are vague at best.  Is there any chance you can help me with a detailed list of the locations?  If you can list all fifty that would be great, but if not at least the ones found before the Queen Fury.

Thankyou in advance for at least reading my request.

Answer
You know, I used to be the biggest Final Fantasy fan out there, but lately, I have noticed myself falling victim to a short attention span as well. I just don't finish their games much anymore. I have yet to go all the way through FFX-2, FFXII, Dirge of Cerberus or Crisis Core.

In my opinion, I would wait for the price to go down. You can decide how much you want to pay, but in hindsight, I would have at least waited till I could get it for $30. Heck, I would even go for used and cheaper than that. But mind you, I have not had much interest in FF games lately (!) and this is contributing to my attitude.

The game itself is not bad and it has a lot of customization options (once they open up) for your materia. Although the random element of the DMW slot thing is strange, it can be useful at times. I only wish that summoning was not a random occurence through this mechanism. But I can see why they did it. Being able to summon anytime would have made the game wayyy too easy.

The gameplay is very Kingdom Hearts-like in its action-based execution. You attack, dodge and defend manually with different buttons and can sift through a small list of usable materia and items with the shoulder buttons. A very workable system.

The main game (of what I have played) can be gotten through with minimal diversion into the side missions to get better equipment and materia, though the summons available in the missions do come in handy. But the side missions are absolutely nothing special and are basically blocked off areas of larger interior and exterior maps that are both graphically bland and unexciting. The only purpose they seem to serve is to make getting the equipment upgrades more tedious than just using gil to buy them or finding them in chests in the main story. There are a few story elements you can uncover if you do some of the side missions, though, so they are not totally useless. Speaking of gil, you can shop electronically from any save point.

The story is definitely worth going through the game to see as the game mechanics and control themselves are not tedious. (unlike DoC, which is a game you want to get as cheap as possible) Overall, I would say that this is the best of the FF compilation titles, excluding the original of course.

As far as your next question concerning the Stardust in Legend of Dragoon, this one was too easy. All I did was google stardust legend of dragoon and came up with a HUGE list of various sites that have this info. These are the first few, take your pick.

There you have it. Might I suggest, for future similar inquiries like that for LoD, you might try googling first before asking. I don't mind answering this one, but a quick search could have saved you and me some typing. Thanks for asking.
