AboutHelen Joan Casper Expertise Ever since I played "Pong" in the early 80's, I've been a video game aficionado. I can answer hardware & games questions about PSP (PlayStation Portable), all PlayStation (1,2,& 3), Wii, Wii Fit, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Nintendo (NES), Super Nintendo, Gameboy/Gameboy Advance, and antiquated systems (ColecoVision, Atari, Sega, etc). I can answer hardware questions only about Xbox and Xbox 360. I can also answer PC game questions, especially CounterStrike: Source, Vampire: Bloodlines, Half-Life 1&2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, and all Sims & Sims 2 questions. I am ESPECIALLY knowledgeable in Square-Enix (formerly SquareSoft) games such as ALL the Final Fantasy games (I can even tell you really obscure things about these games). If I haven't played the game yet I will research it and help you find the answer, renting the game if necessary. I can even answer questions dealing with the consoles themselves (hardware questions).
I cannot answer questions about Action Replay. I cannot answer questions about football, basketball, or wrestling sports games. I also have very limited knowledge about Xbox & Xbox 360 games unless they are cross-platform.
Experience I am also an expert here in games/roleplaying games, weddings, childbirth, and doulas. My husband is a computer programmer and one of the forefront coders for CounterStrike: Source scripts & mods. He has his own forums for coders/scripters at Mattie.Info. I have been an expert here since 2000 (under the name of Helen Chipman) and also volunteer on numerous other game-related websites and forums.
Question Helen,
I tried viewing your past answers to SNES related problems before asking this and I think I have the neccessary information for you to help me. I have the original SNES with Nintendo RF Switch going straight to my TV's ANT/VHF/ETC. All of my connections and accessories are Nintendo brand and I have one Nintendo standard controller plugged in. I have power, and after an hour trying to figure out the problem on this T.V. (92 Phillips) I took it out to my living room and hooked it up the same way to my newer T.V. where it worked fine. I'm not getting sound or video display on the Phillips T.V.
I presently have digital cable on that T.V. and have CoAxial cable going into that jack in the back and up to the receiver which is working fine. What I can't figure out is, if my cable works fine with coax hooked up to the jack and the Nintendo functions on my other TV hooked up the same manner why the heck won't it display on my Phillips? Your expertise would be fantastic! I can see that you are a "guru" of sorts!
Answer That is really bizarre that it won't work on the Phillips.
I'm assuming you tried all the channels on the Phillips and it wasn't showing up at all. Have you tried hooking up the Phillips to the cable line? Because it seems to me it might be that the connector on the back of the television might have come a bit loose and perhaps that connector on the television itself isn't working.
See if you can get anything to show up on the Phillips after plugging it in and get back to me. =)
