Question
QUESTION: hi. my name is joel.
I recently got a wireless router and was wondering if there is any way to get wireless internet to my playstation2 which is acrossed the house ( but still within wireless range) and cannot be reached by an ethernet cord. Could i just put a wireless usb adapter in one of the 2 usb ports on the ps2?

         thanks. Joel

ANSWER: Gday Joel,

You can go wireless (sort of) on your PS2 by you can't use a USB wireless adaptor.  You need something called a wireless gaming adaptor.  Which is basically another wireless adaptor (With minor changes in it)

Basically you goes wireless from your eithernet wireless router adaptor to your gaming adaptor but your gaming adaptor is then plugged via a eithernet cable to the back of the gaming system.

Technically you are still running a wire from your wireless gaming adaptor to your game system.  But there is no wire between the gaming adaptor and you home adaptor.

One slight problem is they aren't cheap.  You can buy a heck of a long ethernet cable for the same price.  LOL

Hope this helps.

QUESTION: i've looked around and couldn't find one. do you know where i could get one?

Answer
Gday Again Joel,

You should be able to find them where ever other computer equipment is sold.  (Ie where you got your wireless router from.)  Any store that stocks computer equipment and wireless routers, network cables should have them.

They also go by the name of Wireless Network Bridge (Wireless Gaming Router to most of the gaming community).  Also when getting one make a note of what wireless router you all ready have so you can get something compatible.  (When in doubt even take your existing one with you)

Depending on your house network setup and where and how you get ethernet connection it might be easier to locate your wireless router nearer to your gaming machine and go wired to there and get the wireless signal for the rest of the equipment.  As computers will work with the cheaper USB wireless antennas while the PS2 does not.  (the newest generation of gaming systems all have wireless cards built in them)

Again I hope this helps you find the piece of equipment you need.
