Console Games (Nintendo, Sony etc.) and Arcade Games - Harvest Moon GBC

Question
I just bought this game, used, I have tried every thing to save it. There are no save options, and it will not automatically save if you sleep. Do you know this game saves?

Answer
Gday Shayle,

Okay if you have the first Harvest Moon for GB, the cartridge should be black this game should automatically save your progression as you go along.

Now naturally this will not work if the battery in your cartridge has gone dead or in some cases if the Cartridge is a Chinese Bootleg it will not contain a battery.

Firstly I would check the back of the cartridge and see what type of screw it has.  If it is a Philips head or star screw the game is not saving because it is a Bootleg Chinese cartridge without a battery it will never save.

If it has a Nintendo Security screw in it then more than likely the battery has gone flat and needs replacing.  To do this you will need a Nintendo security cartridge bit, possibly a soldering iron and a 2032 battery.  You have to open up the cartridge, remove the old battery and replace it with a new battery.  Now the original battery has been soldered into place. You can get this type of battery already welder to legs and just unsolder and then resolder.  If you can't solder you can pry out the battery and then use hot glue or Electrical tape to put the new one in.

Hope this helps.
