i cant get my sons playstation II disc holder to close its like its off track or something.

You are probably right and there is probably something either stuck in the PS2 or it has jumped off the tracks. Maybe even something stuck in the tracks.
Best thing to do would be partially pull you PS2 to pieces and check out what it causing the problem.

Once you have the top shell of it off. I would then remove the screws to the top of the CD/DVD drive Once you have this off you will have access to the workings of the CD drive. From there you will be able to clean and re-align the unit for it to work properly.
