Question Hi, I've noticed that you know a lot about PAL/NTSC compatibility and was wondering if you could help me out. I was wondering if my computer could run games in the PAL format. I'm in the U.S. so probably the native format is NTSC, but I was wondering if I could buy The Sims 3 in PAL format, would my computer run it? Would it be worse graphically or more slow? If you need any specs of my computer or monitor, let me know (but I may need help finding them).
Thank you so much.
Answer Gday Darren,
Good question. Most computer monitors run on the RGB video standard (Same as Arcades) so the video format is fairly much universal. You don't have to worry so much about software from other countries not running or running in the wrong video format as there is really not PAL or NTSC. It's all standard unlike TV which varies from country to country, although HD TV has standards that are also Universal like 720p, 1080i etc. So regardless where in the world you buy the Sims 3 for it will load and run on your US computer.
The only real issue with buying out of country computer software is language. IE If you bought software in China or Japan or Somewhere in Europe the actual text in game as well as the manual may not be your local text.
