Question Hi, I have a Pal Nes and i had been told that US games would work on my UK system, however all i get it that blinky thing were the power light flashes on and off, and i see the title screen for a second, almost like it wants to work. some of my other games do this, but come on eventually, however the US ones never come on.
Is there a way to get them to play? or do i need a converter of some kind?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Answer Gday Kev,
The NES has a lockout chip in the game and the console when the 2 do not match you will get the console blinking. So a US Cartridge on a UK Console will not work without some console modification or a converter cartridge.
Since converter cartridges are going to be hard to find I suggest you modify your console. So you will need to bypass the lockout chip inside the game console to get the game to work on your UK Console.
This is very simple to do an will not really effect your UK games either.
You need to basically disable or cut Pin number 4 on the CIC chip inside the console. This what you should be able to play you US Cartridge on you UK Console.
