Question
QUESTION: Hi, my son has an xbox 360 and I'd like to connect it to xbox live.  I'm pretty sure there is no wifi connection on theunit so I think I need to buy a wireless adapter.  We have Comcast cable internet connection with a wireless router.

I'm a little confused as to what type of wireless adapter i need to buy.  Xbox is selling them for $100, but I see a wide variety of prices on Ebay and other sites.  Can you help me deterine what i need?  I do not want to overpay.

The xbox console is located in our basement, directly below the wireless router, which is on the main floor.  Thanks!

ANSWER: Hey Scott!

Honestly, there is no difference in basically any wireless adapter, except maybe the connection wires to the console itself.  Because of that, I would highly recommend Microsoft brand.  Besides that, Microsoft brands just work better with the Xbox 360.  It is outrageous at $100.  I checked Gamestop and that's their price on new.  Their used wireless adapters are $70.  The ones are ebay are $50-$60.  It's totally up to you.  I would recommend getting one on ebay.  It would be the same as getting one from Gamestop.  As far as I know, ebay is the best way for you to go.  Here's a link to a good one I found:

Just be sure to carefully read the descriptions for those items.  Sometimes, they try to trip you up bad on that stuff. Hope this helped.  If it didn't, let me know and I'll see what else I can do.  If you need anything else, please feel free to let me know.

Hoping all goes well with you and yours,
Silver

QUESTION: Thanks!  Just curious - do you recommend the microsoft brand because generic brands tend to have problems with the xbox?  I'm asking because there are some pretty cheap ones listed on ebay that are wireless g.  I'm not really sure what that means or if they would work ok.

Answer
Yeah, as a general rule, microsoft brand is just more compatible with the XBox 360.  It's not that other brands WON'T work, it's just that don't work as well.  If the price is right, I probably wouldn't hesitate to get an off-brand myself.  So, you can get either, but if it isn't too pricey, go with Microsoft brand.  If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to ask.

Hoping all goes well with you and yours,
Silver

I can help with basically any game problem you have. From the old NES to the Wii. From the PS1 to the PS3. From Xbox to Xbox 360. I’m not really up to date on PC games, so I may or may not be much help on the PC area. I know a lot about games, but I can’t promise that I’ll know the answer to every question. I can promise, however, that if I don’t know the answer, I’ll research to the best of my abilities to find it. I can help in basically any area of gaming, but here are some specifics ~|| FAQs || Cheats || Question and Answer || Data (Information on when an upcoming game will be released) || Action Replay, Gameshark, and Codebreaker Codes || Playing an import game on your American PS2 without modding it (this is my favorite area to help with!) ||~ If your question doesn’t fall in these categories, please don’t hesitate to ask it anyway. I just gave a quick overview of what I’m good at. If you have a question, I will do my best to answer it or find information about anything. Please leave positive reviews if I helped.

Experience

I've been playing games ever since I was little. I would always get upset when I would get stuck and I couldn't find anyone to help me. I never want someone going through that. I've been helping people on YouTube recently, and I wanted to branch out so I can help more people. I've played countless SNES games from way back when, dominated the PS2, and now I'm conquering the new generation of Wii's, PS3's and 360's. I know a lot about games. If I don't know the answer, I know many places where I can get basically any information on almost any game.
