Console Games (Nintendo, Sony etc.) and Arcade Games/Using a logitech steering wheel on the WRC rally games

Question
Hi Octane, I am having problems using my logitech steering wheel on  WRC 3, 4 and rally evloved. With WRC 4 at first the steering wheel worked ok, I could play the game using it, but now it does not work. The wierd thing is you can set up the game using it, like choose rally, time trial, the car you want to use, etc, but when it comes to the race nothing happens, you floor the accelerator and the car does not move, and this is happening in on all the WRC games I have. I dont think the problem is with the steering wheel, because it works on all the Colin Mcrae's, Gran Turismo 4 and Richard Burns Rally. So I was wondering what your thoughts are.

Thankyou for your time,

Scott

Answer
Gday there,

I really appologise this question got stuck/lost in the system somewhere.  I think it is a Steering Wheel problem myself.  The games don't all of a sudden stop working with a controller.  (Unless it is doing it with your normal controller as well.  If this is the case it is a problem with the Game or you game unit)  It could be some sort of incompatability problem somewhere in the controller or in a chip somewhere in the wheel itself with the signal the game is sending.  I have had Joystick, Light guns, Steering wheels etc for whatever reason stop functioning with one game the work fine on other but on some they do crazy stuff.  So much so if I plug them in to player 2 they work fine but not player one.  (God I hated my Cityboy Universal Joysticks they use to do that all the time)

A couple of things I would try.  Try switching out to a normal controller when this happens mid game.  If the game functions with the controller and not the Wheel then it must be the wheel.  Try it in player 2 and see if it does the same thing.  (Most race car games are 2 player)  Chances are it may work player 2.  Yeah it sounds odd but happens.  If you have some sort of expansion/extension cable for your controllers on you system either remove it or try it.  This may also help.

Bottom line I bet is is a fault in the Wheel causing some inconpatability in the game, maybe some dumb setting you turned on by mistake.  (Oooh try setting all setting back to default ans see if that happens.  Or wipe out/transfer game data ot a memory card remove it from the system and play like it is just a new game without any data and see if it helps.  Maybe you data/saved setting are corrupt)

Anyway I appologise for the delay in getting back to you.  Hope this helps
