About Brian Jay
Expertise
I'm moving into answering questions relating to the Xbox 360 and related games. I can still answer questions on previous topics (Gamecube/GBA stuff) but please note I will not be able to help at a full capacity. As always, if I dont know the answer I'll do my best to search for it or point you to the best possible alternative for getting an answer (Updated 31/08/06 and about time too).

Experience
I've been a gamer for pretty much the last 14/15 years, so I feel I know my fair share about the subject. I spent the early years with Nintendo, the mid years with both Sony and Nintendo and I'm now just enjoying my Xbox 360, so I have experience with all three groups. I'm not much of a technical buff, but just like before if I cant answer a technical question personally I'll do my best to search for it or point you out to the next best source (Updated 31/08/06)

Console Games (Nintendo, Sony etc.) and Arcade Games - Xbox 360 Heat

Question
Hello, I have had my xbox 360 since the night it came out and I have been reading/hearing about them overheating very easily I have heard bad things about the coolers Pelican and Nyko sell so I simply bought a fan put it on low and set it behind my xbox 360, will this hurt?

Answer
Hi Jordan:

If anything, it would help. To be sure, the main rules you want to follow is to give all your vents some space (i.e. if its cooped up in a cabinet, get it out propped up off the floor) and you want to have ~something~ outside cooling it to ultimately safe.

More times than not the main thing you have to consider is setup, but a fan for extra cooling sitting on the outside will most certainly help.

Hope this helps, and any other questions feel free to ask.

Brian Jay
