In the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, as a child and an adult, how do you get a horse?

Hi Adam:

I do remember this one!

As a kid, you wanna get Epona's song when you hit Lon Lon Ranch. Just be sure to equip your ocarina when you speak to Talon in the middle of the field to learn it.

When you hit an adult, go back to the ranch and do the new owner's challenge. You should play Epona's song, on a now fully grown Epona to do it. After doing it twice (or three times, cant remember exactly) he'll lock you in. Run full pace at the gate and the horse will be yours.

You wont be able to ride the horse as a kid sorry :(
