Question
"hi,

i was wondering what is the best team that one can have against an poliwrath
(hypnosis, psychic, earthquake, hydro pump), gengar (psychic, hypnosis, dreameater,
confuse ray), alakazam (psychich, recover, confusion, flash), Gyarados, pikachu
(thunder, thunder wave, thunderbolt, quick attack or maybe even agility or light
screen), and a dragonite (hyperbeam, surf, thunder, ice beam or thunderwave?)

Give me a team of pokemon, not too common that shows that that pokemon has a certain attack... (for expample: a blastoise with fire blast (i know it can't happen, but its just an example)... (in pokemon Blue for gameboy)(in pokemon Blue for gameboy).
thanks"

Answer
Hi Danny:

Sorry, first of all for being late with this one. Work commitments, you know the deal.

Now to the question.

It's been a real long time since I have done something like this, (about 6-8 years if memory serves me correct) so please bear with me.

In no particular order

Kangaskahn with Thunder and Ice punch (put what you fell is best for the rest)

Get a Dragonite of your own, with at least an Ice beam (use best judgement for the rest, I say this one just for brute strength alone, and incase your matched with theirs you can always trade ice beams and draw out)

Jolteon with Pin Missile (for the alakazam, electric moves for their two water ones)

A ground/rock pokemon of your choosing (I like Sandslash, no particular reason, but get one with some decent ground moves, maybe a Golem (something of the sorts) if you can keep their water pokemon at bay)

An Exeggutor with some decent psychic attacks, just watch for Ice beam

As for the last one? I dont know... Something like Pinsir I guess for brute strength. Put in a favorite one here I suppose. You could put in an part ice type of your choosing here as well, its up to you.

This is all personal opinion, but this is what I would chose if I had all to choose from. I'm assuming you do also, so if any of these you can get access too I apologies.

I'm also assuming you have whatever access you need for TM's and HM's, again if this stuffs up my suggestions I apologies.

I hope this team is able to help you out. I really do, I spent a few hours going back over all that old pokemon stuff from back in the day to come to this. Good times :)

Best of luck,

Expertise

I'm moving into answering questions relating to the Xbox 360 and related games. I can still answer questions on previous topics (Gamecube/GBA stuff) but please note I will not be able to help at a full capacity. As always, if I dont know the answer I'll do my best to search for it or point you to the best possible alternative for getting an answer (Updated 31/08/06 and about time too).

Experience

I've been a gamer for pretty much the last 14/15 years, so I feel I know my fair share about the subject. I spent the early years with Nintendo, the mid years with both Sony and Nintendo and I'm now just enjoying my Xbox 360, so I have experience with all three groups. I'm not much of a technical buff, but just like before if I cant answer a technical question personally I'll do my best to search for it or point you out to the next best source (Updated 31/08/06)
