-----Question-----
What games would you recommend for my new console.  I need a challenge, as all games are always completed in 12 hours max. I like driving, fighting, sport type games.  Cheers
-----Answer-----
The problem with driving, fighting, and sports games is that they are generally very easy to complete- often in much less than 12 hours. If you want something to keep your focus and give you more gameplay, you may want to explore other game genres.

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion - You won't complete this in 12 hours, though it isn't one of the genres you mentioned. It is a terrific game, however, and will definitely keep your interest.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas -  This is an awesome fighting (shooting) game. Whether you play it multiplayer or single player, this is a solid game that will surely give you hours of entertainment.

Fight Night Round 3 - This is a very solid fighting game and, since it's made by EA, graphically amazing. It also has some fun little quirks and a lot of room for customization.

Dead or Alive 4 - Yet another solid fighting game. Because you can play online with this game, there's pretty much unlimited gameplay available to you. It also has a pretty good storyline built into the game itself.

Need For Speed: Carbon (Collector's Edition) - The collector's edition packs more punch than the original and NFS is one of the best racing-ish games around. The storyline is a bit short, however, with the online options it really adds hours of gameplay. Plus, the collector's edition has what you're going to need for the online gameplay.

Let me know if you need some more game suggestions.

Thanks!

Thanks for your quick reply.  Fight Night Round 3, I agree is excellent, I can play this all day and never get bored. I have this game.

Need for speed carbon, I would consider getting and I'll defo look into Dead or Alive 4.

I don't think the elders game will appeal to me.

Have you played Lost Planet yet, or Call of Duty 3? I wouldn't mind a bit more info on these games, and whether they are worth buying.

Thanks

Answer
Call of Duty 3 is a good game if you like war-themed games. It's almost the same as Call of Duty 2 but with prettier graphics. Personally, I couldn't get into it but CounterStrike:Source is the closest you can get me to a war-themed game and still hold my attention. That genre of games just doesn't do it for me. The controller interface, though, is just plain odd. You get used to it eventually but it's a bit different from the other COD games. If you loved COD 2, you will most likely love COD 3 as well.

I've not played Lost Planet but I've heard nothing but lukewarm reviews of it. It's okay but not great. Apparently the plot is pretty linear and predictable. Even with the multiplayer mode, I get the impression that there's just not enough to the game to guarantee you hours of exciting gameplay. I would definitely rent this one before you buy it.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else. =)

Thanks!
Helen

Ever since I played "Pong" in the early 80's, I've been a video game aficionado. I can answer hardware & games questions about PSP (PlayStation Portable), all PlayStation (1,2,& 3), Wii, Wii Fit, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Nintendo (NES), Super Nintendo, Gameboy/Gameboy Advance, and antiquated systems (ColecoVision, Atari, Sega, etc). I can answer hardware questions about all systems (including PS1 - PS3, Wii, NES, SNES, PSP, DS, GBA, GB, Xbox and Xbox 360). I can also answer PC game questions, especially CounterStrike: Source, Vampire: Bloodlines, Half-Life 1&2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, and all Sims & Sims 2 questions. I am ESPECIALLY knowledgeable in Square-Enix (formerly SquareSoft) games such as ALL the Final Fantasy games (I can even tell you really obscure things about these games). If I haven't played the game yet I will research it and help you find the answer, renting the game if necessary. I can even answer questions dealing with the consoles themselves (hardware questions). I cannot answer questions about Action Replay. I cannot answer questions about football, basketball, or wrestling sports games. I also have very limited knowledge about Xbox & Xbox 360 games unless they are cross-platform. If it is an independent game that has not been widely published and/or a game only released in some countries, I may not be able to help with it either (sadly!)

I currently am employed as a supervisor for a large, national video game retailer. I am also an expert here in games/roleplaying games, weddings, childbirth, and doulas. My husband is a computer programmer and one of the forefront coders for CounterStrike: Source scripts & mods. He has his own forums for coders/scripters at Mattie.Info. I have been an expert here since 2000 (under the name of Helen Chipman) and also volunteer on numerous other game-related websites and forums.
