Question
What is the difference between; Stick build - Modular - Pre.Fab & Manufactured homes?  I am aware of stick build but the others are confusing.  Thanks.  Jack

Answer
jack,
Modular is when a home is manufactured in sections in a factory, trucked to and assembled on site. They typically are totally completed "pieces" that are placed on a foundation and bolted together to become the finished product.

Pre Fab typically refers to a home constructed in the same manner as stick built but the framing components are assembled if a controlled environment typically a plant. The framing components are sent to the site and assembled by carpenters and the balance of the home is constructed as a stick built home.

Manufactured typically refers to what one would typically call a mobile home,
You will find that people mix and match these terms when they discuss housing so it is often necessary to have them explain their view of each definition as they use it.
Hope this helps.
