Construction & Contractors/Cracking Walls

Question
I have a massive crack that stretches from ceiling to floor in my living room.  I
have only been in this home for 3 months.  The house is close to 100 years old,
but it is rehabbed.  Is this crack a costly problem?  I'm in Baltimore and can't
seem to find a contractor willing to help me.

Answer
This is typical of older homes. At least I think it is. You did not define 'massive'. If the crack is less than 1/8" in width and ther eis not offset - one side higer than the other, it is normal. If it is an inch wide, it is not normal.
go to Home Depot and get some DAP. Carefully fill in the crack and let it be. This is typical homeowner maintenance.
If it is truly 'massive' get back to me and I will tell you what to do. did you buy the home used, what sort of warranty did you receive?
