Construction & Contractors/attached covered patio

Question
Hello-
We have a patio outside our family room that we would like to build a roof over (which will be attached to our wood siding house)  The exterior is very high and gabled, and our patio roof will be lower, but also gabled.  The total span is about 30ft and we'd like to have 3 6x6 posts along the front.  Our question is how to attach a support rail along the existing siding of the house to build the cover from.  Also, do you know of any plans or photos for this type of project?  Thanks very much.

Answer
Sorry for the delay...my computer was down.  First you will need to find the studs or other support members to lag bolt the new rafters to.  It would be a good idea to cut the siding out of the area for the new rafter, but that can be risky.  It is easier to fasten to the framing member, but you would need to flash the paper under the siding onto the new roof.  Think about the flow of water and plan ahead.
