Construction & Contractors/slab foundations

Question
My husband and I are in the process of buying a house. It is our first house and we are pretty green about the process. We put in a bid not worried about many problems because our bid is reliant upon inspections. Now I am scared to death. It is on a slab foundation. I have been reading all sorts of information about slab foundations that I never knew before. The house was built in the 1960's. Do you think we will have lots of problems? How costly would it be to put the plumbing in the walls? There is one bathroom and the bathroom, kitchen and utility room are all connected by the same wall. Please help us.

Answer
My neighbor got a bid of $10,000 to replumb a 2 story...hot water only.   I helped him do it for $600.   The bid for the whole house hot and cold....$18000.   Yours actually sounds alot simpler.  $1000 would be a very high price....but it is hard to guess.  Depending on how much work you are able to do...without subcontractors...$6000 will do alot to fix a house up.
