Construction & Contractors/Leveling Covered Patio for Addition

Question
Mr. Coil,

I have a growing family and recently lost my home office due to a soon to be daughter.  I am interested in walling in the covered patio.  I have a water issue in the backyard and would like to raise the height of the patio to the height of my slab.  I have read many different posts, but none have answered my question.  I am afraid by me pouring 3 TO 4 inches on top of the patio I will not get a good bound.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Jon

Answer
Two different issues come to play.  Are you going to make this a living space...heating and cooling....a building permit is needed.   You can thoroughly acid wash the existing concrete to have new concrete bond, but if you are going with a permit..you will need to tear it out..and pour a new approved slab.
