Question
Hello,
I'm building a 16'x 24' cabin. The slope is about 4:1. The long side has solid rock about 4" of soil. My plan is to jackhammer eight holes at least a foot down and 16" square, then drill four 3/4" holes another foot down and epoxy 3/4" rebar into the holes, sticking up through the  poured 16"x16"x 24"(one foot under grade and one foot above grade) footings. Is this a substantial footing? If not, what do you recommend?
Thanks,  Eric

Answer
That is way more footing than the structure will need, but the question is your location.  In some areas...the footing needs to be 32" below grade for a freeze line, in some areas...8" below grade.  Depending on your geographic location...it may not be enough.
