Question We have a multi-level home (similar to a tri-level with a basement) and where the upper level meets our second level at the bottom of the first set of stairs, we have a slope of about 1/2-1 inch. There is a hallway that runs from our entry door the width of the house where this slope occurs. Off to the right of this hallway is our living room, dining room and kitchen. We want to replace flooring and need to level it out. We have a large beam in the room directly below (the basement) supporting the upper floor with one post in the middle. It seems to be sagging a bit right where the slope is. Is there a way boost the beam to fix this or what is the best approach to fixing our floor?
Answer If this makes sense,,,do not assume. Get a 4' or larger level and research what has moved. Is something moving up...or is it sagging. KNOW what the movement is. Movement is possible, just really need to know....what needs to move. When you are sure...what needs to move....check back. I will try to make is simple.
