Construction & Contractors - compaction of subsoil

Expert: David Coil/C. R. Construction - 10/10/2009

Question
i recently excavated a pool and did reinforcement.prior the concrete shell im asked to compact but i never did any back fill or came across a bed rock.should i continue without compaction?what are the merits and demerits?the type of soil is pitsand and i had watered it prior concrete shell which has been condemed.please kindly assist.thank you

Answer
It does not sound like you have a very good base for your pool.  It sounds like you need to slurry concrete the walls of sand to hold it in place.  If you have a thin enough slurry, you could compact it a little.  Your geology report would determine the lateral needs for your structural strength.
