Construction & Contractors - trying to get the estimate on construction of medical office

Expert: Lee Kilcup - 10/2/2009

Question
I am trying to find estimate of construction cost on office space. Space is provided by hospital. I have to pay the construction cost to suit to my need. Simple and economical. 1000 sq.ft

Answer
The most accurate way would be to develop a preliminary concept plan of the space and have a contractor price it. There is also pricing guides like Means Construction costs data (sf costs) that may help you  with a range of square footage costs. With a small square footage like this the unit price may be quite high. If this is a medical office the costs will be higher than a typical office which probably range from $50 to $75 per sf.
