Dear Torin:

We're having a new stone patio installed and noticed that many of the pieces have black stains on them (see 2 photos).  I don't know if they're natural part of the stone or if they're a growth or stain of some sort.  In any case, they're a bit unsightly.  Can you tell what it might be and if it can be removed?

The black spots look like natural minerals that are present in many types if stone. Once patio is finished it will blend and look great. It is part of being "natural" stone.

If you simply cannot live with it then you will need to make another selection, and try to see all the range of colors before installed.

Best regards,

Construction & Contractors
