Construction Industry/Non certification

Question
Hi Emilian Hope you can help,

Am currently working for sub contractor, on job in UAE.
Contract FIDIC 87
As per fidic the engineer is to provide a certificate within 28 days of the application under the main contract.
However the engineer is only obliged to issue the certificate to the employer. What avenues do i as the subcontractor have to go down to find out exactly what has been certified on out behalf. The client or main contractor seems to be hiding behind this clause and is not able (or possibly willing!) to provide details of what has been certified on our behalf. Any advise grateful!!

Answer
My friend, unfortunately I can't give you happy news...

Unless you have a provision in your sub-contract regarding this subject,
unless you have a direct connection (outside the Contract) with the Employer,
as the main contractor (The Contractor) is not willing to give you these details, you have no option but to wait.

The case would be completely different if you were a Nominated Sub-contractor.

Friendly yours,
Emilian
