Answer
Dear Roy,

Do you intend to start building (quite a strong structure) without a design?
I hope you are kidding...

I don't know the legislation in Texas, but I am sure that it is not allowed to build anything without a construction permit. And, in order to apply for a construction permit, you have to have a proper design.
If you don't have a design, yet, you need to contact a designer. Tell him what you want to do and he will prepare the design for you.
Then, all you have to do is to read the design: you'll find there the answer(s) to your question(s).

Dear Roy, I hope that you'll find a good designer to design your store exactly as you want, and, after obtaining the permit, you'll find a good contractor to build your store exactly as per design.

Good luck and success!
Maxx.
