Construction Law/Suncontractor

I am building an addition to the existing house which is not finished yet. The contract does not include anything about the existing house renovation etc., only the addition.
We are also going to do some renovation in the existing house like installation of lights, changing some toilets etc. and I was wondering if I it is legal to have a contract with my builder's subcontractors to do the job for the existing house since they are aware about the house piping and electrical locations etc..

I do not have a contract with my contractor about the existing house, only for the addition.thanks

Some of subcontractors like electrician or plumber did very good job and they are already familiar with house. thank you

Dear nur,

There is nothing illegal about employing the original subcontractors, but I would get a contract regarding the work within the existing house before proceeding.  One must ask the question as to why the builder doesn't subcontract them direct.

Value . . .
It's unwise to pay too much, but it's unwise to pay too little. When you pay too much you lose a little money, that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing you bought it to do.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. It can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it's well to add something for the risk you run.
And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better.
