Construction Law/getting out of a contract

Question
I have a question that may or not be in your expertise... I apologize in advance if it isn't...  I have signed a contract to have my house painted, and no work has been done outside of a color consultation.  I have recently found someone else that can do the work much less money. I have given the first company no funds.  How binding is the first contract?  Is there wording that I need to look out for that would indicate that I need to worry about cancelling the first contract?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Answer
Dear Christina,
Thanks a lot for your question. I would like to inform you that you can not cancel the 1st contract without any situation occurred that goes to violation of the contract.
