Container Gardens/Pampas- cortaderia pumila

Question
We have a very small garden but plenty of room for pots etc. Can cortaderia pumila be grown in a very large pot?? Or does it have to be planted in the garden?

Answer
Hi Audrey, it could be, but eventually it would begin to stress and become insightly, it needs to have a great deal of space to spread and show its beauty, and even the largest of pots would eventually cramp its style; my recomendation is not to put it in a container, there are many others that would be better suited. Try Miscanthus, Blue Lyme grass, or Lemon Grass, they will do fine in a large container. Nick
