Question
Can this plant be successfully grown as a patio plant in a container?

Answer
Hi Kathy, yes, it is well suited to many conditions, and a container grown specimen will do just fine if it is given plenty of sunlight and is placed in a large enough container to give its roots ample space to develop and provide the crown the nutrients necessary for successful growth. Euonymus will grow  larger in the ground, but if contained will be smaller; give it a light potting mixture and as I said, plenty of sunlight. When it is young, it will benefit tremendously from a higher phosphorous content in the fertilizer (the second number), to help the roots develop. The soil should be kept from drying out completely, other then that, you should be able to grow a nice specimen in a large container with little difficulty. Nick
