Question I live in florida and have a gardenia in a large pot in my back yard. the buds turn brown and fall off without flowering.the plant looks healthy? what should i do? would adding coffee grounds help? it gets water without getting soggy, it's in a shady area but gets plenty of sunlight
Answer Hi Crystal, its either getting too much water or the PH level is off, (5.0-6.0)..Florida soil tends to be in the high 7.0s; the only other reason would be not warm enough, and being in Florida, that would not be the case. I would lift it and put new soil in the container and make certain there is ample drainage so as to avoid the wet feet that could be occuring. Nick
