Container Gardens - growing impatiens indoors

Expert: nick mccann - 5/9/2009

Question
We have a beautiful impatiens plant indoors that is putting out lots of lovely blossoms.  However, some of the stalks are getting long and leggy.  Can you please advise me on how to keep the plant full and bushy, rather than leggy?  Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi April, Impatiens need to be pinched back constantly to keep them full, otherwise they are prone to "legginess"; keep them well irrigated and pinch them frequently. Make certain that they are out of the afternoon sun also, morning sun and then shade is the ticket to success. Nick
