Container Gardens - mushy Bonanza peaches

Expert: nick mccann - 6/15/2009

Question
I have a Bonanza peach tree that is about 8 years old.  Sometimes the peaches are wonderful, but this year they are mealy.  What can I do to get the great ones?

Answer
Hi Karen, check your "Mushy" Peaches closely, they may be infested with the Carribean Fruit Fly larvae; I too have had a iffy year with my Southern Peach, and discovered Fruit Fly larvae inside many of them. There really isn't any other reason for your Peaches to be in this state, other then being over ripe. Nick
