Question
I have tomatoes in planters I have several semi ripe tomatoes, they are all split
does that mean I am wtering them to much?  I live in Louisianna it is extremely
hot for the last month weve it's been in the high 90's-100's I watered my
plants twice a week.  Is it too much? Thank you....

Answer
Hi Judy, what is happening is they are drying out extremely fast because of the high temperatures, and when you water the insides are expanding, splitting the outside skin; irregular watering is the cause, your two times a week watering and then letting them dry out between times is doing it, its just too hot for them and you need to move them to a location where they will receive afternoon shade. Mulch them over too, this will slow the soil from drying so fast. Monitor the soil everyday and you should see the soil staying moister for a longer period of time, by following the lead. Nick
