Container Gardens/Pomegranate

Question
Can I grow a pomegranate in a container or even in the ground in northeast ohio?

Answer
They need a tropical location to be grown outdoors in the groound, you can however grow them in a container, keeping it by a sunny window and moving it outdoors during the summer months; they are self pollinating, so you need not concern yourself about cross pollination. A well drained quality potting mix, with drainage medium lining the bottom couple of inches will suffice; Watch for spider mites during the winter, keeping the leaves misted to deter them, and you should do fine.
