Question Dear sir/madam.
I am a mechanical engineer passed out in year 2000 and currently working in shipping industry, sailing as an engineer in a reputed company. Due to unavoidable family circumstances i have to quit my current proffesion and opt for a shore job.As i have a zeal to work in shipping sector i have opted for the course MSC shipping , trade and finance from CASS BUSINESS SCHOOL ,LONDON (city university).Sir i will appreciate if you can advise me further about this course and also on the career opportunities related to this sector.
Best Regard's.
Answer Hello Ishwaran,
The Cass Business School website has a "recruit our graduates" section. Have you inquired as to their placement services? There are a number of shipping-related careers that may be of interest to you, including dispatching or planning for international shipping companies such as APL or working dockside in logistics. If you are unable to sail because of family circumstances, have you considered working for a trucking company or airline? With an MSc from Cass you should have a number of opportunities open for you. I looked over the course descriptions in your study path and they seem to be appropriate for the field. I do not personally know any graduates from Cass, but I have seen journal articles written by Cass professors.
It is clear that you have a passion for shipping and you should continue your studies. You may have to be patient for awhile as you complete your degree and satisfy your family obligations.
