Continuing/Adult Education - seeking another degree

Expert: Cynthia Wolfe - 2/21/2009

Question
I just recently got my bachelors degree in psychology. Going from here is quite the confusion. I'm probably going to get my teaching certificate and get my masters in clinical psychology. But for some reason nursing is popping in my head. Is there any careers with a degree in nursing and psychology that you have heard of? Also, is it a complete waste of time to go for two bachelors degrees, or is it impressive?
I guess my real question is, what would have more impact: 2 degrees, or continuing my education by climbing up, so to speak? thanks!

Answer
Hello Debra,

Thanks for asking a question! Higher degrees are more impressive than multiple undergraduate degrees. However, if nursing is truly what you want to do, you may be happier becoming a nurse than pursuing your current path in clinical psychology. You can certinly find jobs with both a nursing and psychology degree together, perhaps in a mental health facility. Remember though, that employers love experience not just degrees so you should be working in the field.

Good luck,
Cindy Wolfe
