Question
Hi Cynthia,

Hoping you can help me.  I am 30 years old and I am going back to school.  I was laid off in January and want to make a career change.  I am going to a Community College and I have my entrance exam in 2 weeks.  Do you know of any websites or books that could prepare me.  If I do bad I will have to take 6 credits of math and english that won't count towards my degree.  Also I am going for Accounting or Business.  Which of the two have better opportunities with an associates.  Thank you in advance.

Eddie

Answer
Hello Eddie,

Thanks for asking a question. I am sad to hear that you lost your job, but it's great news to hear that you are going back to finish your education.

Major bookstores like Barnes & Noble or Borders have review books and other study aids to help you with the entrance exam. However, there are a number of free resources available online. In addition,

Here are a few online, some are actual tests, others are samples or study aids:
http://pinkmonkey.com/
http://www.oaklandcc.edu/MathTest/Practest.htm
http://www.mccfl.edu/Pages/1484.asp
http://www.instruction.greenriver.edu/DIV-Math/Advising/default.htm
http://www.studyguidezone.com/

I really like pinkmonkey because of the number of study aids available. Good luck on your test!

Regards,
Cindy Wolfe
