Contraception and VD/pregnant?

Question
Hello, I have been taking birth control pill for three months now. I recently forgot to take the placebo pills and I had unprotected sex during my period. Can I still get pregnant even though I didn't miss the hormone pill?

Answer
From what I have read, the placebo pills are just to keep you in the habit of taking a pill every day and would not be effective. But I do want to tell you that, in my opinion, even if you take the birth control correctly, there is always a small chance that you can get pregnant. No birth control method, except abstinence is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. Please consider abstinence for this time in your life as it gives you peace of mind and no worries about pregnancy or STD's. Please email me at DWooley97@yahoo.com if you want to talk more.

Sincerely,
Diane W.
