Contraception and VD/Vaginal discharge

Question
I am 54 yr old post menopausal woman with a recurring crystal clear vaginal discharge. It is odorless. I am without any other symptom.
I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with a STD (I really do not remember the name of it) but that is impossible.
It will appear, be a problem for a couple of weeks and slowly disappear. It is difficult to stay clean during this time and if I miss a shower I have noticed a bit of an itch but nothing that is constant, cleansing myself resolves the itch immediately. The itch is not inside the vagina, it is in the hairline, this is why I believe it to be akin to missing a shower.
By the way, when I took the prescribed antibiotics it made no change in the way the discharge behaved. It still left in about a week.
This has been going on for the best part of 2 years as long as I have been without a period and it cycles pretty much like a period does.
I am a nurse and have never heard of a crystal clear discharge and wonder if it is abnormal at all? But then I have never heard of a normal clear discharge either!
I am confused and really tired of it. I thought I was "off the hook" when my periods finally stopped.

Answer
I was unfamiliar with this but did find some articles about it. Here is one article I found.
http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/Handouts/pdfs/vaginal_discharge.pdf
This is what I did. I went to http://www.goodsearch.com and put in the box "clear vaginal discharge" See what you can find. I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
