Contraception and VD/cerazette

Question
Hi, I have been on microgynon 30 which is a combined contraceptive pill. I have just come off my break, and reallised that I have run out of packets. I had 3 left over so i have taken 2 of those over the last 2 days whilst getting an appointment with the nurse for more. However, she recommended I change my pill (due to blood pressure reasons)to the POP cerazette (Digestrol 75 micrograms) and gave me a pack of those.
The leaflet says to switch from combined pill to cerazette on the day after you take the last pill from your present pack of combined pill; but i don't have a full pack. When can I swap? Is it ok to go straight to cerazette and just use additional precautions for the first 7 days?
Thanks, I hope you can elp me with a direct answer.

Answer
Hi Stacey,

Yes, it is fine to switch to the new pill when you run out of your current pack. You may have some side effects form the switch such as nausea or breakthrough bleeding but this should go away. Use a back-up method for the first 7 days on this new pill as an extra precaution.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
