Contraception and VD - getting sick

Question
Hi! I've got a question....every month either before or during my period, I get sick! Sometimes it's nothing but a small cold and I'm able to carry out my normal day-to-day activities, but sometimes it's something really bad that keeps me out of work and school. I can't let this keep going on because it's impacting my life! What are the causes of this? Does menstruation somehow interfere with your immune system? And also, is there some way I can prevent this?

Answer
Hello Amanda,

I just found your question in the question pool here at allexperts.com
This means that whoever you asked the question to was not able to answer for some reason. They put the question in the pool and I just found it there.

So I will try to answer. I really don't know why this would be happening. But I would agree with you that perhaps it is your immune system. I would say eat a balanced diet and take vitamins and supplements. Please check with your doctor about this question. Drink juices that have vitamin C in them. Eat enough protein and lots of vegetables and fruits. So that's what I recommend. If you want to talk more, just email me at DWooley97@yahoo.com and put allexperts in the subject line.

Sincerely,
Diane W.
