Contraception and VD/Breast Pain, on birth control

Question
I have been on Loestrin 4 Fe for about 2 and half months. I'm 21(about to be 22), with no children.  My last period was March 28th, and before that March 2nd.  I'm confused because my breasts have been sore for about 3 to 4 weeks.  Just one day I noticed that they hurt and lately have noticed bluish veins, and slightly darker aerolas.  I took a pregnancy test around March 4th, because my first period on the birth control was pretty much non existant and thought it was implantation bleeding.  I know that breast tenderness is a side effect of the birth control, but how long should this last? Should I take another pregnancy test? I've had other symptoms, but very minor and I guess most could be attributed to the pill. I have a doctor appointment, but not until the end of May. Should I move up the appointment? or just not worry?

Answer
Hi Steph,
Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical professional so I suggest that you check with your doctor. But I see that you have an appointment but it's going to be almost 2 months. Yes, you are correct that the birth control pills can cause breast tenderness. You could go to this webpage http://www.optionline.org and try to find a pregnancy testing center in your area. They can advise you. It's hard for me to tell if it is pregnancy or effects of the pill. I'm sorry but I can't diagnose over the internet so I hope this has been helpful. Please email me at DWooley97@yahoo.com if you want to talk more.
