Contraception and VD/Three-month cycle mess up?

Question
I've been taking a three month style birth control pill for...about eight months now. It's been going ok, but recently with school starting again, my schedule has been crazy and I've become rather featherbrained. I've missed...quite a few pills. I take them when I remember, but still...it would make me nervous enough to not have sex now. My question is, with the three month cycle pills, do I have to wait until after my next period to be "safe" again, or...if I were to continue taking the pills correctly for the rest of the month and a half or so period, would I be ok? (My boyfriend is in the Army and won't be back home until mid to late November. Will I be safe by then?)

Answer
Hi Christina,

As long as you take the rest of your pills on time you will be covered by the time your boyfriend is back. I would normally tell you to use back up for 7 days if you missed more than one or two pills or to start a new pack if she was in the last week of her pack, but, because it will be more than 7 days until you have sex again, you dont need to worry about that.

Hope this helped,

Allison
