Cooking for Parties/Funeral Reception

Question
I'm planning a mid-afternoon (~3pm) post funeral reception for around 275 guests.  The widow has requested "finger foods".  I was considering deli meats (beef, turkey, ham), cheeses (cheddar, provolone), vegetable tray, fruit tray, punch, coffee, and cake.

I've read that the rule of thumb for a sit down meal is 4oz of meat per person, but this isn't a meal.  Same with the veggies and fruit.  How much is appropriate for this type of gathering?

And finally, would cookies and bars be better than cake for "finger foods"?

Answer
Cookies and bars would be much better than cake as a finger food than cake, also you don't have to do sandwiches since this is a mid-afternoon and you are looking at the purchase of several hundred dollars worth of deli meats for that many people.  A fruit tray and a veggie tray along with cookies punch and bars is fine--people won't be terribly hungry right after lunch and they will leave for dinner at 4:30 to 5 pm.  I'd do an assortment of cookies, doughnuts, muffins and maybe brownies and coffee cake with a fruit tray and a veggie tray and some chips or chex mix.  Coffee, tea and punch should round out the receptions. It should be more like afternoon snacks than a meal.
