Question
I am having a luau reception for my wedding. I am on a very tight budget and
need to do some stuff on my own. Can you give me ideas for side dishes that I
can prepare myself for 120 people? And maybe what not to dos?

The #1 thing is not to have food that will spoil in the outdoor heat. BBQ pineapple is a huge crowd pleaser--marinate it in teriyaki sauce for a day or two, brush with oil and grill each side until marked and browned--they FIGHT over these when I make them.
BBQ a whole pig in the Cuban style--dig a pit and roast it overnight and unearth a delicious island treat--you'll probably need two for that many people, but an island pig pickin' is as authentic as it gets!  There are zillions of recipes, just get what you like!
