Cooking for Parties/Mashed Potatoes

Question
Planning for a golf dinner where there will be 250 men.  The dinner is steak, chicken, mashed potatos.   How much mashed potatos do I make??

Answer
A LOT!!  You will need to boil 300 medium (6-8 oz each) to large potatoes as men love them.  The secret to mashed potatoes is REAL butter, half and half (not milk) and then season them with a bit of garlic (not a lot) with salt and pepper.  For garlic mashed potatoes, boil 300 cloves of peeled garlic with the potatoes (they will be very soft when the potatoes are done) and mash them right in with the potatoes and add the butter, half and half, salt and pepper. You'll need a big Hobart mixer or you can do them in batches and put them in big foil pans (think turkey roastin pans) and warm them in the ovens--put the pan in the oven at 350 for about an hour before serving.  Use a scoop like a big ice cream scoop and give everyone two scoops and you should have plenty.
